Dave the Sniper's build Empty
PostSubject: Dave the Sniper's build   Dave the Sniper's build EmptySat Jan 08, 2011 6:10 pm

Introduction
So you want to be a Sniper? Snipers can be very powerful and they have more range then any other PVP class. I'll start by listing some pros and cons of being a Sniper and small notes.

Pros:
- Double Strafe hits 3 times
- Great range
- Has Land Protector. Good against AOE magic and Pneuma <- woot! Very Happy
- Always have high hit, around 5K+ (with the right gear and cards)
- Level 10 Attention Concentrate
- No need to chase people too much to turn them undead (Naruto Card)
- Versatile class. It's possible to make a Magic build, a Flee build, a Resist build, for your Sniper and possibly more.

Cons:
- Many people have high range resist
- Some people have or auto-cast the Pneuma skill, which can be a pain sometimes
- Main weapon does not give Demi-Human resist like Knight's and Sin's
- Arrow element will revert back as weapon is changed

Some Notes:
- Sharp Shooting is a MELEE attack
- Being a Baby Class (Hunter in this case) gives you an advantage over Platinum Shield users
- DEX and STR does NOT affect Double Strafe damage if your ATK is maxed out (65k)
- Giearth is not needed anymore, since Accessory belts give Confusion resist.

Build: Equipment, Cards, and Explanations

Headgear:

Upper: Mario Helm - Gives good Demi Human Resist
- 4 Tuasil - Tuasil boosts Double Strafe damage and DEX. It's an essential component of a Sniper build.

Mid: Mid that gives DEX (you may want to get one with resist xD)
- 4 Tuasil - Tuasil boosts Double Strafe damage and DEX. It's an essential component of a Sniper build.

Lower: Wings that boost long range damage
- 2 Gemini S58 - Prevents Stone Curse and Sleep from Anger Card. Make sure your VIT is 80 or higher.
- 1 Marduk - Prevents Silence from Anger Card.
- 1 or 0 Orc Hero - Although optional in my build, Orc Hero prevents Stun from Meteor Assault, Stun Arrow, Meteor Storm, etc.
- 0 or 1 Tuasil - Here, the Tuasil is strictly optional. If you want more damage then go for it, but you'll be vulnerable to Stun.

TIPS:
- Use 2 Lower Wings for long range damage. One should have Orc Hero and the other should have an extra Tuasil in place of Orc Hero for extra damage Smile.
- Use FCP Wings (Bright Blue Wings) for Full Chemical Protection. You never know when someone might strip your gear. xD
- You might want to get Flee and Hit (I like Iced/Hax) Wings as well.

Armor:

Class Suit: - Gives extra HP and other good things.
- 1 Element or Gloom Under Night - The elemental cards that can go here other than Gloom are: Angeling (Holy), Ghostring (Ghost), Argiope (Poison), Pasana (Fire), Swordfish (Water), Dokebi (Wind), Sandman (Earth), Evil Druid (Undead), and Bathory (Shadow).
-1 Anger - Inflicts multiple statuses at a 30% rate. Used very often in PVP and can help in some situations.
- 1 Marc - Marc prevents Frozen status and gives an additional 5% Water resist.
- 1 Steel Chonchon - Adds an additional 10% resistance to Wind. This is somewhat of a placeholder and can be replaced by another card, such as Gloom.

TIPS:
-You can choose any class suit you want from the Cash Shop, just don't choose Champ or... another class, I forgot, and you'll be fine.
- Some people have multiple elemental suits to switch between. Some people have as many as 30! If you decide to compound all of the elements into class suits, you would have around 10 class suits (that's 10 Angers o_o).
- There is a PVP strategy called "Armor Switching". While you are being attacked, you switch rapidly to find the elemental armor that resists the element that the opponent is using. Let's say your opponent is using Fire. You would have to switch to your Swordfish suit to resist it, because water resists fire. There's an element and attributes chart up on ratemyserver.net if you want to check it out.
- In order to armor switch, it might be helpful to know Battle Mode (/bm). You can also register your equipment in a hotkey slot for easy access.

Weapon:

Battle Crossbow (from Cash Shop, get 3) - Best Sniper weapon for PVP. Gives an additional 55% damage to other players.
Weapon 1
- 1 Incantation Samurai - Ignores DEF of opponent when PVPing. Saves you from having a headache is the opponent switches between Garments with Miranas.
- 3 Chalants - Chalants help you regain HP depending on how much damage you do.

Weapon 2
- 1 Hydra - Gives an extra 20% damage on demi-human monsters.
- 1 Turtle General - Gives an extra 20% damage towards all monsters.
- 2 Chalants - Chalants help you regain HP depending on how much damage you do.

Weapon 3
- 1 Thanatos - Deals more damage depending on your opponent's DEF.
- 3 Chalants - Chalants help you regain HP depending on how much damage you do.

TIPS:
- Be careful when using your Thanatos weapon. You might go over the damage cap and heal your opponent. Watch the red numbers closely if your damage reaches 226K.
- Vary your weapons for extra damage or drain. Use different amount of TG and Chalant.
- Use weapons without Incantation Samurai or Thanatos to check how high your opponent's defense is. If your damage gets significantly lower as you switch to the non-thana/incant weapon, your opponent is "thana-bait".

Note 1: According to Draxism, the effects of Turtle General cards don't stack. I'm not very sure about this, but you can substitute Turtle Generals for Hydras as needed. I will check this out.

Note 2: Very interesting find. Turtle General cards do stack, but you can maximize your damage by using a combination of both Turtle General and Hydra cards! For example, if you use 2 Hydras and 2 Turtle Generals, your damage will be 140%*140% = 196%. If you use 4 Turtle General or 4 Hydra card, you would only gain 180% damage. Smile

Arrows:
- The main arrows you should use are: Stun, Flash, Counter-Evil (if you don't like to use Aspersio), and maybe some Elemental Arrows (if you don't like Converters).

Shield:

Valkyrja's Shield (from Super Mall, get 2)
Shield 1
- 2 Candace - Gives 20% resist to Demi Humans and Strip Shield, which is a skill I really love to randomly use. xD

Shield 2
- 2 Purist Thunderwrath - Nullifies magic damage and gives a good chance of reflecting magic back to the caster. Pretty helpful against magic users.

TIP: Register the shields in a hotkey to switch between them quickly. I strongly encourage learning and getting the hang of Battle Mode (/bm).

Garment:

Premium Manteau (from Quest Room or trade, get 2)
Garment 1
- 4 Dragon Tail or Noxious/Orb of Nemesis - Dragon Tail gives an additional 40% damage to Double Strafe, which is a great boost! If you want to go the resistance path, go for Noxious or "Neme".

Garment 2
- 3 Mirana - Mirana lessens your defense, which helps prevent you from becoming "thana bait" when using Nubcakes.
- 1 Naruto - Naruto has a chance of turning your opponent into the Undead property as you do melee damage to them. It is meant to be used with Aspersio or a Holy property arrow.

TIP:
- To activate Naruto card's effect, use normal attack on an enemy. The Triple Attack from your Mario Card will activate it.
- Naruto Card includes Gospel, which helps you get rid of an Undead status from another person using Naruto.
- Remember to use Gospel TWICE. Once to activate the effect and second to get out of it. xD

Shoes:

Premium Shoes (from Quest room):
- 3 Marios - Mario gives a boost in STR, AGI, and DEX and gives Triple Attack and Cloaking. Very helpful.
- 1 RSX/Eddga/Orb of Fluer - RSX prevents you from being knocked back and Eddga provides the Endure effect (helpful against spam delay and Raid stalkers). Fluer has both RSX and Eddga's effects plus some additional stat ups. EDIT* Fluer also has Detoxification, which is a good alternative to the Poporing card.

TIPS:
- Now the shoes can vary from person to person depending on your preferences. You can use only 2 Marios and 2 other cards if you want. Some might use 4 Marios. Surprised!

Accessories:

Dex Agi Belt (from Cash Shop, get 2):
Accessory 1
- 3 Rikimaru - Rikimaru gives Lv 4 Storm Gust, which helps against Cloaking. It also has a wonderful boost in Range resist by 4%.
- 1 Poporing - Gives Detoxification for Sins who melee attack you with their Enchant Deadly Poison buff. You don't need this if you have Orb of Fluer.

Accessory 2
- 4 Rikimaru - Rikimaru gives Lv 4 Storm Gust, which helps against Cloaking. It also has a wonderful boost in Range resist by 4%.

Accessory 3
- 4 Nubcake - Use this when you want extra boosts in stats. It's usually used together with Mirana to make sure that you're not "thana bait". This helps give a helpful boost in Hit and Flee.

Accessory 4
- 1 Rikimaru - Rikimaru gives Lv 4 Storm Gust, which helps against Cloaking. It also has a wonderful boost in Range resist by 4%.
- 1 Poporing - Gives Detoxification for Sins who melee attack you with their Enchant Deadly Poison buff. You don't need this if you have Orb of Fluer.
- 2 Nubcake - Use this when you want extra boosts in stats. It's usually used together with Mirana to make sure that you're not "thana bait". This helps give a helpful boost in Hit and Flee.

NOTE: If you have Orb of Fluer, you do not need Poporing.

TIPS:
- Nubcakes are meant to be used with a Flee equipment set. ;D
- What you put in your accessories can vary. For example, you can exclude the Poporing card or put in some Errende Ebecces.
- Accessory belts give resistance to Confusion status, so there's no need for Giearth.

Some Strategies
- You can use from 7-9 Tuasils depending on your headgears. ;D
- When up against Pneuma, use Land Protector to nullify its effect. You can also use Sharp Shooting, as that is a melee attack.
- You can use Mario Card's Cloaking with Land Protector to buy yourself some time. Your opponent can't use the common method of Storm Gust to reveal you. Be careful though! Your opponent can reveal you using Magnum Break or Attention Concentrate.
- When up against a Paladin using Defender, make them chase you. Run around and Double Strafe them from afar. Stall them with DS or magic (AOE plox!? Very Happy) and try to strip their shields xD.
- When up against a Champ using Body Relocation and Pneuma, you have to be very careful. Use Land Protector on their Pneuma and do as much damage as possible. While they're focusing on evading your attack, your Double Strafes will count for something. Smile Also, you can use Sharp Shooting, which is a great strategy if your opponent doesn't have much resist overall.
- When up against a SBK Sin with similar damage to you, armor switch to make their job more difficult. You can also use Flee and Naruto to help make your job easier.
- When up against a Magic User or Soul Linker, find the correct elemental suit and switch to your Purist Thunderwrath shield. Smile
- When up against an SP LK or BB LK, use Eddga to escape from their Spiral Pierce and Bowling Bash. You can also use Pneuma and RSX if they are SP type. Head on counters with Knights can really hurt. Be careful :/
- When up against a Raid Stalker, alter your build for some melee reflect (Orc Lord card). You can change out your Rikimaru accessories for something else.
- Strip Shield, Naruto, Flee and armor switching apply universally. Magic is for fun! Use them to your advantage. Smile

Conclusion
I hope you find this guide helpful for your Sniper build. Smile I know that there are a lot of GM cards in this guide and that it might take a while to farm and obtain them, but I know that if you put in enough time and dedication, you'll do very well in PVP wink.gif. This is basically my build. My build might have more to it, but not much. I think I covered it all, but tell me if I should add or correct anything.

Have fun playing TSBRO, and if you're reading this and see me around sometime, say "Hi Dave, I saw your Guide on the forums," or something like that and I will be happy. xD
